Erickson Air-Crane has flown the S-64 Aircrane helicopter in high performance, low impact timber harvesting operations since 1971. Current operational areas include the Pacific Northwestern United States, Canada, and Malaysia.

• Helicopter timber harvesting eliminates the need to build roads within the harvest area. Impact on the environment is kept to a minimum.
• The Aircrane hauls tropical hardwood to an existing road side landing area up to 1 mile (2.5 k) from the cut site.
• The Aircrane uses a powerful hydraulic grapple to snap a prepared stem off of it's stump and bring the entire length to the landing.
