Heavy Lift Construction
Heavy Lift Construction
Located in Central Point, Oregon, Erickson Air-Crane Incorporated currently owns and operates a fleet of seventeen S-64 Aircrane helicopters worldwide. The only purpose-built "Flying Crane" in existence, the highly efficient Aircrane is unmatched in the helicopter heavy-lift arena. Since 1971, the Aircrane has always been at the forefront of heavy-lift operations. The early seventies saw the development of an "Anti-rotation Rigging System" for the Aircrane which is immensely valuable in heavy construction operations with its ability to keep an external load from twisting or swinging from effects of the helicopter rotor wash. In addition to the heavy-lift ability of the aircraft and the anti-rotation rigging system, the Erickson S-64 Aircrane is the only helicopter in the world with an aft-facing pilot station that allows full positive control of the aircraft while affording the aft pilot a full view of the load being placed. The precision installation capabilities of the helicopter, combined with the skill and experience of the pilots, has led to such high profile operations as the removal and replacement in 1993 of the "Statue of Freedom" sitting atop the nationŐs capitol in Washington, DC.
